Some interesting weather today. In the Eau Claire area, temperatures dropped substantially compared to yesterday, although, they were right around average for this time of year. The high temperature was 54 (f) and the low was 30 (f). The cause of the drop in temperature compared to yesterdays 70 (f) weather was the movement of a large mid latitude cyclone through our region. Yesterday we were within the warm air mass trailing the warm front, however, as the system moved the cold front pushed across our state. Light snow flurries were seen as a result of this strong low pressure system.

The Midwest tornado outbreak toll continues to increase after more than 120 tornadoes swept through parts of Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. The destruction was extensive in Wichita, KS where damages exceeded a quarter of a billion dollars. The tornado in Woodward, Oklahoma killed 5 people after touching down early Sunday morning. The unfortunate time of the tornado and problems with the town's siren made it difficult to alert residents.
