Today started out relatively chilly for this time of year with a low in the lower 20's (f). The National Weather Service has been issuing freezing warnings for the past few days. Today's conditions were very much like those seen yesterday with a temperatures in the 40's (f). Looking at the radar map for today, Wisconsin is right in the middle of a continental polar airmass which explains the colder temperatures. Using upper air data I predict a jetstream ridge to move from the west over Wisconsin throughout this week. This will bring warmer temperatures as frontal movement begins to bring warmer southern air over our state. Tomorrow's conditions are expected to be clear since atmospheric data shows stable conditions and there is relatively little water vapor in the air surrounding our region.
